Maarten Lingier a obtenu son diplôme de piano au Conservatoire d’Amsterdam dans la classe de Jan Wijn, puis son master au Conservatoire Royal de Bruxelles avec Boyan Vodenitcharov, dont il est sorti avec distinction (cum laude). Principalement autodidacte en composition, il a poursuivi sa formation auprès d’Édith Lejet à l’École Normale de Musique de Paris – Alfred Cortot, où il a reçu en 2019 un diplôme supérieur de composition, unanimement décerné par le jury.

Ses compositions ont reçu une reconnaissance internationale. La radio belge Klara a diffusé ses œuvres à plusieurs reprises, et il a été commandé pour composer un opéra de chambre pour le festival B-Classic. En 2021, sa Suite Concertante pour violoncelle et orchestre a été sélectionnée en finale du prestigieux concours Île de Créations organisé par l’Orchestre National d’Île-de-France. L’œuvre a été interprétée par l’orchestre sous la direction de Léo Warinsky, avec Victor Julien-Laferrière en soliste, et le concert a été enregistré et diffusé sur France Musique.

En 2025, deux de ses œuvres vocales ont été créées à l’Opéra Bastille dans le cadre de Génération Opéra et Présence Compositrices, témoignant de son intérêt pour le répertoire lyrique contemporain. Sa voix compositionnelle est également nourrie par le jazz et l’improvisation, ayant étudié le piano jazz à Amsterdam.

Parmi ses distinctions, Lingier a été lauréat du Solaris International Harp Competition en 2024, avec sa pièce Signaturesinterprétée au Festival International de Harpe d’Assy.

Actuellement basé à Paris, Maarten Lingier poursuit l’exploration des intersections entre tradition classique et expression contemporaine dans ses compositions.

Maarten Lingier earned his bachelor’s degree in piano at the Conservatoire of Amsterdam with Jan Wijn, followed by a master’s degree at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels with Boyan Vodenitcharov, graduating with distinction (cum laude). Primarily self-taught in composition, he furthered his studies under Édith Lejet at the École Normale de Musique de Paris – Alfred Cortot, where he received a higher diploma in composition, unanimously awarded by the jury in 2019.

His compositions have received international recognition. Belgian radio station Klara has broadcast his works multiple times, and he was commissioned to compose a chamber opera for the B-Classic festival. In 2021, his Suite Concertantefor cello and orchestra was selected as a finalist in the prestigious Île de Créations composition competition organized by the Orchestre National d’Île-de-France. It was performed by the orchestra under the direction of Léo Warinsky, featuring Victor Julien-Laferrière as soloist, and the concert was recorded and broadcast on France Musique.

In 2025, two of his vocal works premiered at the Opéra Bastille within Génération Opéra and Présence Compositrices, highlighting his interest in contemporary lyric repertoire. His compositional voice is also shaped by jazz and improvisation, having studied jazz piano in Amsterdam.

Among his distinctions, Lingier was the winner of the 2024 Solaris International Harp Competition, with his piece Signatures performed at the International Harp Festival of Assy.

Currently based in Paris, Maarten Lingier continues to explore the intersection of classical tradition and modern expression in his compositions.
